Onboarding of the 4th cohort of the Growing Expertise in E-health Knowledge and Skills (GEEKS) Fellowship

The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria is excited to announce the onboarding of the 4th cohort of the Growing Expertise in E-health Knowledge and Skills (GEEKS) Fellowship which took place in Lagos on the 3rd to 7th of July, 2023. GEEKS is a one-year, competency-based, health informatics fellowship programme, funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) and implemented by the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) and the Africa Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET).

The fellows drawn from various GoN agencies include Pharm. Asmau Abubakar (NAFDAC), Pharm. Wole Ogunbameru (NAFDAC), Mrs Chioma Ebibi (NAFDAC), Mr Alle Ayodele (FCT Dept of Health), Mr. Emmanuel Owondah (River’s State SMoH) and Mr Nurudeen Olorunishola (Lagos State SMoH).

This 12-month intensive training and mentorship would be delivered through experts and public health informatics professionals from IHVN. Fellows would each work on a group project and develop competencies in data analytics, data visualization, public health informatics and research.
